RMG utilizes the highest quality amniotic tissue products available. Amniotic tissue has been safely used for decades in clinical practice. Amniotic tissue is rich in active cells and growth factors that support the healing process Recent studies have shown that the amniotic fluid within the membrane contains a substantial amount of pluripotent stem cells (cells that can grow into any cell type, including organs). These cells may have a healing effect on the human body. Amniotic tissue is also unique in that it is considered “immune privileged”, meaning that it can be introduced into the body with a minimal chance of eliciting an immune response.
Our products are obtained from live, healthy donors through placental tissue obtained from C-Section birth that would normally be discarded. The donor tissue undergoes thorough testing, processing and preparation according to strict FDA guidelines.
Our cellular products are currently being used in:
Orthopedics: Cartilage injuries, partial ligament tears, tendinosis, tendonitis, arthritis, fractures, bone bruises, post-surgical healing, partial ACL/PCL tears, partial rotator cuff tears, tennis/golfers elbow, “Tommy John” injuries (partial tears), knee/hip/shoulder arthritis, wrist/forearm Tendonitis
Spine: Intradiscal and facet injections/procedures, fusion surgery, facet arthritis, disc disease/tears/bulges, arthritis
Podiatry: Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, ankle arthritis, ankle sprain/strains, ankle/foot fractures, ankle/foot arthritis.
Wound Care: Venous stasis ulcers, diabetic ulcers, burns, decubitus ulcers, arterial ulcers
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Who can benefit from amniotic tissue treatment? Anyone suffering from arthritis, tendonitis, poorly healing injuries, surgeries or wounds. In many cases amniotic tissue therapy can prevent surgery and chronic debilitating conditions. Discuss your condition with our doctors to see if you are an appropriate candidate for treatment.
2. Is amniotic tissue safe? Amniotic tissue has been safely used in medicine for over 100 years. Our products are prepared naturally, with minimal additives and preservatives. Because it is dervived from human cells, there are no toxic substances or side effects associated with treatment.
3. Is the treatment Painful? Our cells are derived from live C-Section births and do not require any painful cell harvesting procedures such as bone marrow harvesting, liposuction or blood draws. Our treatments are mixed with a local anesthetic and injected through a small needle, thereby ensuring minimal to no discomfort.
4. How soon will I notice Results? Amniotic tissue stimulates your own body’s healing mechanism. This is a process that takes a little time. Maximum results are typically seen within 3-6 months, but may be sooner depending on your own healing characteristics.
5. Can I receive Multiple Treatments? Your doctor may prescribe additional treatments based on your results. Multiple treatments are often required for wounds. Amniotic tissue is very safe to use and can be given as many times as necessary to achieve maximum results.
6. How does amniotic tissue treatment differ from PRP? PRP contains components called “growth factors” that help to trigger the body’s own healing response. Amniotic tissue not only contains all the components of PRP, but also many more types of active growth factors and actual amniotic cells. In fact, many doctors are now combining PRP with amniotic tissue to enhance the effect of PRP.
7. How does amniotic tissue treatment differ from bone marrow of adipose derived cellular therapies? Bone marrow and adipose derived cells require painful and expensive harvesting procedures to obtain the actual cells. As a result, these forms of cellular therapies often require multiple visits, carry risk of infection during harvesting procedures, and are much more costly because of the amount of work needed to perform the procedure. Amniotic tissue comes to the doctor’s office packed frozen, is immediately thawed and applied to the targeted tissue, thus taking minutes and eliminating multiple visits and painful harvesting procedures. Amniotic tissue also provides a much younger and active source of cells, with very different characteristics and activity than adult cells.
8. Is amniotic tissue treatment covered by insurance? In most instances, amniotic tissue therapy is NOT covered by insurance. However, other aspects of the treatment are usually covered by most insurances, including Medicare. Most RMG doctors do provide financing options for amniotic tissue products for their patients.
